On sleepy Tues, a morning shower
Falls gently on the campus green
I near the Bridge at the tenth hour
To sit inside, and feel serene
It’s time to focus, I believe,
For homework have I to complete
But something does my ears besiege
The most upsetting sound — of feet!
A squeak! A squelch! A moistened shoe
Parades on past my curséd seat
In strident droves they shuffle through
To cause rubber’s fright when meets concrete
A headache fierce begins to grow
For havoc has this downpour wreaked
To voice lessons must I now go
And fill the halls with more tuneful shrieks.
